The two-volume work by Cypriot scholar Lefteris Papaleontiou has just been published, compiling texts by Greek writers and poets who were born and lived in Egypt—either permanently or for extended periods—from Cavafy to the present day. The texts represent a wide range of stylistic choices, as well as a considerable variety of genres (poems, short stories, excerpts from novels or plays, testimonies, personal accounts and other narratives, and examples of literary criticism).
The anthology concludes with references and excerpts from my prose and translation work, as well as a short essay of mine on poetry, and I feel great joy and emotion. The editor deserves much praise for this monumental work, which spans 1,870 pages!
