Tribute
The writing work of Greek artists is rich and comprehensive; a source of expression of human feelings, thoughts and concerns for today’s society. However, the accessibility of contemporary Greek writing by foreign readers is a critical issue for the creator of our country. Thus the cycle of events “One thousand and one … meetings” was born from the need to promote Greek literature and creation as a means of intercultural dialogue in the region of the Southeastern Mediterranean and especially the Arab countries.
Through three different events, twelve (12) selected Greek authors introduced themselves to the Greek-speaking and Arabic-speaking public and highlighted their work as a means of dialogue and understanding of the “other”.
The cycle of events “One thousand and one … meetings” joined the activities of CulturePolis in the context of the homonymous project approved and subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Greece and was coordinated by the Center for Greek and Arabic Literature and Culture – K .Ελ.Α.Λ.Π. of CulturePolis. An initiative with actions that focus on the same issues with an emphasis on promoting intercultural dialogue between Greece and the Arab-speaking countries of the Mediterranean and the wider region of the Arab world.
All events were conducted in two languages with a parallel translation by Khaled Rauf and Persa Koumoutsi. They are available on the channel of K.E.L.A.P. on Youtube as well as on its upgraded website.
