Event title: Manifestations of Poetic Expression in Contemporary Arabic and Greek Poetry
on the occasion of the 20th Thessaloniki International Book Fair, where the Emirate of Sharjah is the guest of honor.
The event is organized by the Laboratory of General and Comparative Literature of the School of Philosophy,
the Laboratory of Languages of Dialogue and the Study of Religions of the Department of Theology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and
the Sharjah Book Authority, and will take place
on Thursday, May 16, from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m., in the Seminar Room of the Section of Medieval and Modern Greek Studies of the Department of Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, New Building of the School of Philosophy, 2nd
floor (208).
Opening remarks will be delivered by Professor of International Economics and
Development, Mr. Grigoris Zarotiadis, as a member of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Governing Council, and by the President of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, Mr. Nikos Koukis.
The Sharjah Book Authority will be represented by its CEO, Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri.

Persa Koumoutsi, Author, Anthologist, and translator of Arabic poetry into Greek.
The event will be moderated by Angeliki Ziak, Professor of Religious Studies in the Department of Theology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Consecutive interpretation will be provided by interpreter Samuel Bissaras.
This academic meeting focuses on the issue of multilingualism and the relationship between origin and
universality in poetry; it will last one hour and will take place immediately before the official
opening of the 20th Thessaloniki International Book Fair at the HELEXPO venue.
The event is open to the public.
